Working Together

Despite all the moving parts with your project, we believe in keeping the process simple. We also know that communication is key. Our project management team will send regular updates and we welcome any questions you might have. As your advisor, we not only manage design but also provide full-service options for coordinating every detail of your project, taking the most cumbersome details of the process off your shoulders. We’ll stay connected as your project moves forward, notifying you of your options as well as critical decisions along the way.

STEP 1

Schedule a consultation with our design team.

Our designer meets with you to discuss your project and our process. Following this initial step, you’ll receive a formal proposal for the work.

STEP 2

Launch your project.

Your project manager will get the ball rolling and will keep you informed about progress throughout the entire process.

STEP 3

Work with our design team.

Your designer will develop options for your project and meet with you to review. We’ll work with you to assure that the design is a perfect fit and that you’re 100% satisfied.

STEP 4

Prepare permit drawings.

Once you’ve reviewed and approved the design, our production staff will produce permit drawings. Our team will coordinate with any additional consultants required for your project.

STEP 5

Review bids and select a builder.

We have relationships with many top builders in the Bay Area. As additional services, we’ll collect up to three construction bids for your project and assist with the permit process.

STEP 6

Coordinate construction and finishes.

Going beyond the traditional scope of an architect, we offer add-on services to streamline your project, such as assistance with selecting interior finishes and job site coordination.

“These guys are great. We hired them to help us with a kitchen remodel, and they were professional and responsive all the way through. They provided several great options to choose from, the payment plan was clear, and they patiently iterated the plans with us several times. I highly recommend them.”

Project Spotlight – Saltbreaker

Looking to bring a taste of Napa dining to the island of Alameda, these restauranteurs leased a space in the up-and-coming 'Alameda Point' neighborhood - i.e. the old Naval base. The newly renovated storehouse building provided an all concrete and steel palate. We wanted to honor the bones of the structure while adding warmth and comfort in all the right places. Walnut, leather and indoor plants soften the industrial feel. A laser-cut stainless steel bartop gives a nod to the nautical and mechanical history abound. A forthcoming outdoor dining area, also designed by Drafting Cafe, will open in Spring of 2024.

“Outstanding job. Just exceptional. In about 6 weeks, we went from brainstorming ideas to a final draft that I just submitted for permits. We cannot wait to see our new kitchen!”
