Our Story
In 2010, founder Ethan Andersen recognized that there was demand for a different kind of architecture firm - one that could facilitate and realize the vision of homeowners. While many architects want to design projects with their signature style, fewer architects are happy to add on a bedroom or deck, remodel a basement, or gut a bathroom. Ethan set out to rethink how to facilitate - not dictate - architectural services and created Drafting Cafe. The goal was to grow a firm that could work closely with homeowners to provide superb designs, on-time delivery, and reasonable fees.
Cafe in the name is intended to invoke the personal experience of sitting down at a coffee shop for a casual conversation about your home. Drafting is the humble roots of what we do. Drafting Cafe Architects has focused on this personal approach since 2010. Our team is dedicated and friendly, and the satisfaction of our clients is our primary concern. With hundreds of projects completed, Drafting Cafe Architects is the premier provider of residential design in the Bay Area. We’ve worked with nearly every municipality on various types of projects. Ethan has used his experience and expertise to create code software, Planchx, that is used by other architects and on all projects at Drafting Café.
